“Queen Leonor, the wife of King João II,

used to say that the time she spent away from Lisbon, she was not alive.”

About us

Lisbon, strategically located next to Tagus River, was once home and shelter for many populations.

The Phoenicians called it “safe harbor”. People say that the Greek hero Ulysses also passed through here and it was him who named the place as Olisipo. Fact or myth, this was the name adopted by the Romans when they stopped here. Others came, the essence of the name remained. The Visigoths called him Ulishbon and the Muslims, Al-Ushbuna.

Today this city is called Lisbon, our beloved Lisbon, with more than eight centuries of history and so many stories inside.

Well then, if Olisipo is the city. Olisipographer is the one who dedicates himself to its study. This is us, a historian and an engineer who, in their free time, enjoy walking around the capital and finding the stories that make up the history of this incredible city of ours that is Lisbon.
